Garden update

I said I’d post an update once I got all of my veggies planted in the planter. I not only got them planted, but they are flourishing! I probably planted a bit too much and will most likely need to thin most of the veggies out a bit before we harvest. That’s ok because I’m very proud of my garden. It’s growing beautifully. I can’t believe I actually am growing real-live vegetables that we will be able to eat soon! Go me!

I honestly didn’t think I had a green thumb at all, but I’ve proven myself wrong for sure. I am diligent about watering the garden and flowers at least once a day and when it’s really hot out, twice a day. If we are going to be away, I ask my neighbor to come over and water for me. I worked hard on this and would feel awful if I came home and everything had died.

I’m finding that I love to get my hands dirty. One of my favorite things to do is to pull weeds. It feels very therapeutic. I get a ton of satisfaction out of getting the roots of a weed completely out of the planter or yard. Is that weird?! I’m not sure what a therapist would say but I feel really good after getting my hands dirty either from planting or weeding. I feel grounded and in touch with nature. I think I have found my new summertime past-time.

My garden is flourishing!

What I planted

I probably planted way too many vegetables, but if we have too much, I’ll give some away. I planted starting from the back coming forward in the photo:

  • Zucchini ( there are 7 starting to grow already!)
  • Red, Yellow and Green Peppers
  • Large Carrots
  • Peas
  • Mini Carrots
  • Cauliflower
  • Lettuce, green and red
  • Spinach
  • Cucumbers
  • Rosemary
  • Jalapeno Plant (for Steve) – I think I’ve been watering it too much. It’s not very happy right now but I hope it takes off soon.
  • I also have mini tomatoes planted in a pot on the patio. Steve doesn’t like tomatoes, so I didn’t want it to get too big. I will be the only one enjoying them this summer. ?

Did you plant a garden this year? If so, what did you plant? How is it doing? Are you finding that you love to garden as much as I do? I’d love to hear about your gardening stories. Please comment below. I respond to all legitimate comments.

Have a great summer! I’m hoping that if you did plant a garden that it flourishes like mine is.

With love and gratitude!
